Hi John
Not a photoquestion, but a blog/journal question.
I'm trying to make a blog entry with quite a bit of text. Like you have in some journals. But the lines keep breaking of in unwanted places. How do you work out the layout of your journals?
Working wit Tables gives some relief, but even then the layout gets all over the place.
Thanks

christer Stenmark John,
Stumbled upon your work and gasped at the numerous excellent pictures you have published, both here on 1x.com but also on your web page as well. In fact, one of my photographic dreams in life has always been to go and see the scottish highlands, experiencing the vast landscape, hopefully shooting some descent pics at the same time too... Your pictures make me want to go even more.. In fact, makes me wanna go pretty BAD! :) I know that taking great pictures like you do isn't just about being lucky, shooting from the hip.. Being lucky is planning. Being lucky means having a great deal of patience.. You've got it all combined John. That's so nice to see, keep up with that John.
Well. Dreams are meant to be lived.. Next summer it might become my turn to end up in the highlands, sitting on a rock, sipping a splendid local whiskey, watching the sun rise or set while my EOS 5D Mk II captures the moment on my Manfrotto tripod... I'm aiming on that! Cheers John! |
Philippe Albanel John,
I discovered your work some time ago and wanted to say all the good thing I thought about your art work. Keep up to share your images with us!

John, you've just made my day with your words! Thank you so much for this, especially now! You know, lately I've struggled a lot with trying to not care too much when some good images (imho) are rejected, well, not easy to be done. I respect you and your words so much, I always appreciate and love to read your opinion in forums, in your journals, in your replies on the comments, I really love the sincerity and honesty you always give (of course the humour too :) ). About my work, I believe that actually my images are like some sketches (in my eyes the most appropriate word for them) with some unfinished parts, waiting to be filled by the viewer. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to have a look and to write this! In fact I consider it as a birtday gift, you know, yesterday was my birthday! Cheers John! |
Michal Skalba wonderfull portfolio, i'm impressed :) |
Tomas Suarez You have an incredible set of photos and a beatiful homepage. Great landscapes here!! |

Wow, had not seen this homepage fully yet John, it's very very beautiful! I'm always impressed by your images (you know this) but it is great to see them all combined, makes the experience even stronger. |
Detlef Rook Unbelievable - great work. The best gallery I've seen for a long time. I linked your website from my blog: http://drfotoblog.wordpress.com

Splendid collection John. One can get a good sense of the Lake District (and accompanying wetness) through your collection. |
Thanks a lot Ralf. |

Ian Mairs Hi,
Like Tom I would also like to see if prints are available to buy - particularly the one displayed at the National Theatre at the moment.
Thanks,

@ Tom Kington: Hello Tom, I sent you a private email.
Cheers,

Tom Kington John,
such wonderful photos... I wonder if you run off and sell prints for people?... I would treasure some of these on my walls

Simply magnificent work, John! I really love that you're posting such superior work and making such a strong statement as to the vagaries of the OE jury. |
If I read your title this are images of you being rejected. Well it proves for sure one thing again : that a lot a strong images for some reason do not make it on OE. Screening is such a subjective matter...
And that's the benefit of those homepages |
John, I highly regard your pictures and therefore your honest opinion.
A while ago a landscape picture of mine was rejected and it didn't leave me much to improve on (even though the critique thread was interesting..;)
I hope you can find the time and will to look at it once more? I'm really curious about your thoughts...

It's shot in New Zealand, with a not too good wide angle lens I'm afraid..
I hope you'll find some time (after crashing some of the plains in Scotland if I understood correctly.. ;)
Cheerz!
